About Us
We are a producer of charred wood siding. Our initiative is to elevate the quality of our living environment, from the design as well as the functional perspective. By using wood as the finest decorative element and transform it into a dominant part of our home. We produce charred wood panels for interior as well as exterior application.
It's a make-to-order process, we do not stock products. We only offer the product, not the assembly.
The Method
The crafting process is based on an old Japanese technique (Shou Sugi Ban / Yakisugi), which utilizes fire as a way of treating the wood surface.
By applying this technique, the wood receives a carbon layer which gives the wood some unique characteristics, such as improved resistance to fire, resistance to insects as well as an unmatched visual experience.
The charred surface of the wood planks can be further processed by brushing off the upper soot layer to different extent, creating a new range of beautiful design elements including different color variations.
The Wood
We utilize spruce, nordic spruce, douglas fir and siberian larch. Length, width and profile may differ from product to product depending on the wood type used so in order to find out more about these attributes, please refer to the specific product. Every tree has its own characteristics when it comes to texture and color and for the wood being a natural material, these features may slightly vary even between individual trees. We encourage you to request our samples of the products of your choice in order experience how it actually looks and feels.
The Finish
The applied finish can further enhance the appearance of the wood, therefore we offer several options to coat the planks. A thin film of natural oil as well as a layer of shiny varnish can be considered. It all depends on the visual context into which the panels are meant to fit in.
